Life September 7th, 2008
Before graduating these were my priorities:
- Pass all my courses.
- Pass them with flying colours!
- Get a good job
- er…dare I say it …Get a wife….Right this makes me a typical South Asian!.
- Make a lot of money!
- Discover the next ‘killer app’
- Be an Engineering/ Programming Guru!
- Have a million dollars (and a nice BMW) all before the age of 30!
Now after graduation, my priorities have shifted. It’s like being hit with a big bus called Reality. My priorities now are:
- Do well in my job
- Get Confirmed!
- Make tons of money
- Get Out of Debt!
- Discover the next killer app!
- Google (Microsoft, etc <name whatyacallitFamousCompany>) pay me millions to get their hands on my killer app.
- Get a CAR!
- Get a house
- Get into a Graduate school.
As you can see, getting a wife is now no longer in my list of priorities. It will definitely change in the next five years as some of the items will be out of the list (like Items 2 and 7). As for the other items (5 and 6), well there is no harm in trying. And even if the application that I create doesn’t bring in the dough, I’ll still be better off with all the new knowledge and experience!
So what were your priorities before and after your graduation ?
I’ve also been reading a couple of personal finance blogs. They’re breadth of coverage is very illuminating.
Happy Monday!
