Great Baron Unleashed!

What seemed like an eternity

After what seemed like an eternity, I have finally upgraded my wordpress to the latest version.

I also made a few discoveries. Bluehost is not using SimpleScripts to manage the installation of various applications. Previously they were using Fantastico. Okay, I’m a behind, I left this wonderful blog of mine rot in the ever expanding sea called the bloggocean.

I’m back, yes, I know you’ve heard that before but I promise I’ll make more effort to write and post. On another note, I really like the new dashboard of wordpress. IT’s a far cry from what it was before. I really like it! And the automatic plugin installation tool. It’s awesome. Ok…I guess I’ve showed how behind I am in the wordpress….but I’m glad I’ve upgraded my ancient wordpress installation to the latest one.

Please support me! Please comment. This blog will continue to be my journal on the internet regarding my experiments with technology.

Life..

Before graduating these were my priorities:

  1. Pass all my courses.
  2. Pass them with flying colours!
  3. Get a good job
  4. er…dare I say it …Get a wife….Right this makes me a typical South Asian!.
  5. Make a lot of money!
  6. Discover the next ‘killer app’
  7. Be an Engineering/ Programming Guru!
  8. Have a million dollars (and a nice BMW) all before the age of 30!

Now after graduation, my priorities have shifted. It’s like being hit with a big bus called Reality. My priorities now are:

  1. Do well in my job
  2. Get Confirmed!
  3. Make tons of money
  4. Get Out of Debt!
  5. Discover the next killer app!
  6. Google (Microsoft, etc <name whatyacallitFamousCompany>) pay me millions to get their hands on my killer app.
  7. Get a CAR!
  8. Get a house
  9. Get into a Graduate school.

As you can see, getting a wife is now no longer in my list of priorities. It will definitely change in the next five years as some of the items will be out of the list (like Items 2 and 7). As for the other items (5 and 6), well there is no harm in trying. And even if the application that I create doesn’t bring in the dough, I’ll still be better off with all the new knowledge and experience!

So what were your priorities before and after your graduation ?

I’ve also been reading a couple of personal finance blogs. They’re breadth of coverage is very illuminating.

Happy Monday!
